Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have faced escalating strikes in the past few days

During the night, Moscow's aerial assaults have caused power cuts in multiple districts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Nine people were wounded while residents in the city's east were plunged into darkness and dealt with problems to water supplies, per reports from local authorities.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a separate Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southern area, according to area administrators.

Russian forces has escalated assaults on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while the country's government has demanded "substantial measures" from partner nations to apply pressure on Moscow.

"The necessity is not window dressing but strong steps - from the US, Europe and the major economies - in supplying protection systems and applying sanctions," was stated in a public message.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 missiles attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such assaults as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Russia was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were laboring to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes hit energy infrastructure and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Multiple people wounded in the attacks on the city have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by city authorities.
