'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith renews clash with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the dramatic final moments of his team's remarkable turnaround win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a spectator's eyewear amid the post-goal scrum.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a speculative effort from outside the box, and his teammate quickly hammered in the deflection before racing off toward the home end to revel in the moment, with the crowd congregating around the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The result sealed an unbelievable comeback given Swansea had been behind 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. Amid the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and we were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're humans, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

That win earned a upcoming fixture at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith ran close at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with the London side in February. He had arguably the best view when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. It feels criminal that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for having a go from that far out," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before shifting to right flank after the team changed formation. That meant competing with City's winger, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the City players who praised the way his former team approached the match.

Opponent's Class

"Fitness-wise they are exceptional but even the simple things and basic skills, they can just execute repeatedly," he explains. "It feels like they always find their target and they understand how to manage and take the sting out of a game. You can feel you're all right and then abruptly they will just deliver a through ball between defenders without you even noticing. You have to be focused every second of the game. It takes a resilient mindset and concentration just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and beat off competition to bring him in in the summer in a significant move. He established himself as a fans' favourite across a couple of years at Orient and has rapidly achieved similar status in south Wales. At the London club he joined forces once more with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in senior football on loan at his loan club from Old Trafford. Then came a spell at lower division Salford City, before he departed Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into men's football. I think many athletes would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without serious challenge. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adjust fast."

International Recognition

He has demonstrated that development for club and country, performing well for his national side, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has started the recent fixtures, including two matches games against Germany. His former international manager, Galbraith's ex- international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his knack for a killer pass.

Starting Out

This represents quite the ride for the player from the Queens Park estate in the Belfast suburb, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who grew up watching his dad, his father, also a engine room operator, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

His sole appearance for United came in the away trip in 2019, a Europa League trip to the Kazakh capital, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was closed owing to temperatures of freezing cold. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was chilly," he recalls, grinning. "The preceding week, several youth players and I trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to travel with the first team and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

How difficult was it to depart Manchester United, the club he joined from Linfield aged his mid-teens? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I knew I wouldn't break through at the senior squad. I'm extremely thankful for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I thought I had to take a different path, move to a lower level and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly progressing again."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during the middle of the day at the club's training ground but Galbraith has an appointment at late afternoon: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to the local area, the young professional was a regular in Swansea's nicknamed team minibus, a small coach driven by team personnel, the transport team, which ferries players to and from training and matches.

"It's myself a teammate, another squad member, Malick Yalcouyé – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to socialize with the lads but I'm aiming to be the next one to stop using the bus and driving. His teammate likes to pull a few pranks; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would blend in with followers on public transport after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
